Our Church Staff
Rev. Dr. Jason E. Royle: Pastor
The Rev. Dr. Jason E. Royle is a native of Illinois and has served churches in North Carolina and Tennessee. He is a graduate of Kentucky Christian University, Johnson University, and Sewanee: University of the South School of Theology with degrees in Social Work, Theology, and Doctorate in Ministry. Before entering full-time ordained ministry, he worked as a nephrology social worker in Tennessee and was owner-operator of a Schlotzsky’s Deli franchise in North Carolina.
Jason enjoys golfing, exercising, sightseeing, traveling, attending concerts and live music, and visiting museums and special events with friends and family. He is also the author of the blog: “The Potter and the Clay” and the Book of 70 Prayers on Amazon.
Jason’s wife Heather is a graduate of The University of Alabama. She is a licensed and registered dietitian, but now uses her skills to carry out the hardest job of all: full-time mom. Jason and Heather have been married 17 years.
Rev. Holly MillerShank: Minister in Mission; MESA Team United Church of Christ
A member of St. Paul’s UCC, Holly serves the wider church as the Minister and Team Leader for Ministerial Excellence, Support and Authorization in the national setting of the United Church of Christ located in Cleveland, OH. In partnership with others, MESA works to support authorized Ministers (commissioned, licensed and ordained) and Committees on Ministry in the United Church of Christ.
Holly grew up at Myerstown UCC and served as pastor of Grace UCC in Lebanon. She has served the church in various capacities; as a Global Ministries Volunteer in India, as an intern/consultant with the UCC Office of Public Life and Social Policy in Washington DC, as a member of the Local Church Ministries Board of Directors, and as part of the Ministry Issues Implementation Committee. Holly has a BA in International Relations and Business from American University and an M.Div. from Lancaster Theological Seminary. Holly and her husband Jonathan, both ELCO grads, maintain a home outside of Schaefferstown.
Mike Shober: Director of Music and Organist
Mike Shober, organist and director of music, is the newest member of the St. Paul’s staff. Mike works with Rev. Royle to select the music for all services. He is responsible for playing the organ and arranging special musical performances. In addition, Mike serves as senior choir director at St. Paul’s.
Mike and his wife Judy live in Ephrata, PA. They have eight children, eleven grandchildren and two Bengal cats. Mike began playing the organ at ten years old. He served as organist at a number of Lancaster county churches, as well as, keyboardist for the Living Faith Singers before coming to St. Paul’s to share his talent in January 2016.
JD Miller III: Administrative Assistant
As St. Paul’s administrative assistant, JD Miller works closely with the pastor, staff, and general church membership. He prepares the weekly church bulletin, maintains all membership records, schedules events and sees to the many other administrative tasks that make a church operate smoothly and efficiently. He is also the first person you will meet when you walk into the church office. You can expect a cheerful greeting. JD is happy to answer your questions and assist you in any way he can.
Chris Gyorke: Sexton
Chris Gyorke is the church sexton, responsible for the upkeep, cleanliness and oversight of the church property and general supervision of the church grounds; oversight of buildings and grounds maintenance; and ensuring safe, clean and proper order of the church campus and facilities. Before becoming sexton, Chris was a truck driver and has been in every state east of the Mississippi River. Chris also sings in the senior choir, teaches Sunday School, assists with the Youth Group, and serves on the Property Committee. Chris is a student of the game of tennis, a road cycling enthusiast, and loves motorsports. He has two daughters, Fallon and Natascha.
